Fothergill
Fothergill features a delicate spectrum of colours that encompass two unique and intimate camps blending in and out of one another as one. They are both gathered around large sitting, dining, library, bar, and pool areas that are perfect for relaxation, and subsequently melt into the surrounding natural environment – a mix of lake, mopani bush, and the large floodplains of Matusadona National Park.
The wildlife and environment across the lake, flood plains, and into the mountains of the Matusadona National Park are so diverse that land and water activities conducted by foot, vehicle, or boat can deliver an all-round truly African safari experience.
The lake and bush suites comprise five spacious and breezy suites that are some of the largest in the area, each placed exquisitely on 115 sqm (1,200 square feet) of decking. These suites can be configured to become either a double or twin room with a luxurious en-suite bathroom, some of which include an outside shower or large bathtub with a spectacular view.
Spurwing
Situated on Lake Kariba in the middle of one of Africa’s most spectacular lakes, overlooked by the majestic Matusadona Mountains, Spurwing Island Lodge is the perfect place for a tranquil getaway for the wildlife enthusiast, serious fisherman and holiday maker alike.
Spurwing Island offers a range of different activities including scenic boat trips as far as Sanyati Gorge. It offers game viewing on foot, by boat or landrover. The Matusandona National Park boasts a large population of wildlife and bird life, making it a photographer’s paradise! Fishing is a popular sport in Lake Kariba, and Spurwing offers fishing trips inclusive of tackle as well as an experienced fishing guide.
Spurwing Island is able to cater for a maximum of 40 adult guests in 3 different styles of accommodation, including tents, cabins and chalets. All rooms have scenic views over Lake Kariba and the Matusadona mountains.
Umbozha Houseboat
Umbozha offers you 9 cabins, each with en-suite shower and toilet, all with stunning lake views and beautiful teak furnishings. Every cabin is fully air-conditioned and boasts a unique contemporary feel. The boat has an expansive lounge and dining area, offering panoramic views, coupled with stylish interiors. A staircase leads from the lounge to the top deck, from where our captain sails the vessel. From there you have a bird’s eye view of the landscape and is a great place to relax on a day bed in the open air.
You may prefer to escape the heat of the midday sun with a dip in the pool or to kick back and relax on the sun loungers, all the while surrounded by endless views of stunning African scenery.
